Barda Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Barda wildlife sanctuary is counted among the most famous sanctuaries in India. Porbandar is the closet city, around 15 km distant from this sanctuary. The area is versatile and naturally gifted, consisting of plain lands, natural rivulets, hilly pathways, and ideal flora and fauna. The sanctuary ground is surrounded by agricultural fields and waste lands.

The sanctuary provides shelter to various mammals, reptiles and birds. It is an ideal habitat for some endangered species including hyena, leopard, wolf, blue bull, spotted deer, chameleon, wild board, Chinkara etc. For many rare species of birds like flamingos, crested hawks, and spotted eagles, the sanctuary offers a congenial setting, thus it is considered as the paradise for Ornithologists. The flora of the park is consisted of approx 650 species of plant and tree including bamboo, ber, babul, rayan, amli, jamun, and so on. Some medicial plants are also found within the sanctuary’s forested belt.

If you want to visit the Barda wildlife sanctuary, winter months (October to February) will be perfect. During this time, the weather is quite travel-friendly. The park stays open from morning to evening. It is better not to travel during summer months and also try to avoid the monsoon months. You may find it quite uncomfortable if you travel this time.
